LOMI LOMI MASSAGE

Please Note - Lomi Lomi massage is only offered to existing clients as a support to TRE and Breathwork.

Bodywork can be immensely nourishing as well as supporting other healing modalities such as TRE. Touch can soothe the nervous system, and deeply reassure and ground us, body, mind and emotion.

Lomi is the bodywork aspect of the ancient Hawaiian philosophies/healings of Huna. Huna had many practices to support living a healthy, happy life and it informs some NLP (neurolinguistic programming) approaches.

When a client goes into Lomi, we ask them what their intention for the massage is. It might be simply to "let go and relax" or it might be something else such as "to nurture the unheld infant inside me", or "to allow myself to graciously accept change in my life". Your Lomi practitioner/s will then breathe and move with your intention as they massage you with consciousness, care and presence...

As with all massages there are the benefits of deep relaxation, release of stress & healing at a physical level, which can revitalise and nourish. But Lomi Lomi can also be profoundly healing at other levels including mental, emotional, and spiritual.

What is lomi like?

Lomi is unusual in that the outward strokes are generally done with the soft, yet strong underside of the forearm. Return "embracing" strokes are performed with the underside of the hands. Strokes are often long and flowing, crossing the body in a fluid and oceanic rhythm that allows the receiver's mind to let go, and the body to relax. The flowing, diffuse strokes allow tension to melt from the body, as it is lovingly embraced.

In this Lomi Lomi massage lineage we embrace all of the body, except for the breasts and genitals, and we will ask at the beginning of the session if you have any other areas of your body where you do not wish to receive contact.

The practitioner/s will move into an intuitive space, so strokes can be sometimes fast, sometimes slow. The strokes penetrate deeply into the body as gently or as firmly as the client needs.

Lomi can help us feel at one with life, listen to our true nature and realise or remember that we are simply energy moving. We can let go of concern with the past or the future and just "be".

As you drop deeper into the massage you may find that you can "meet" parts of yourself. In that creative flow we never know what our clients will experience (see quote below), but you can trust that you will be safely held throughout.

My husband, Ashley, is also a qualified Lomi Lomi practitioner which puts us in the unique position of being able to offer Lomi to our clients in the traditional way; that is with more than one masseuse. With 2:1 Lomi, the mind finds it harder to track four hands, so mind and body can let go even more easily. It can be a powerful experience.

Our Training & Lomi Lomi Lineage

Ashley and I have received extensive Lomi Lomi and HUNA Training with Joy Hicklin-Bailey inSecret Garden, some in Hawaii and some in the UK. This included participation in several lomi retreats and a year long 12 day certified Secret Garden Lomi Lomi training (2010).

We also participated in Secret Garden’s certified one year "Being With People" Facilitator training as well as many other trainings and awakening work with Secret Garden to support and deepen what we are able to offer, so that it comes from a conscious and caring place.
